Quilt Blocks 101 - Quilting Services

Our quilting is hand guided on an APQS (American Professional Quilting System) Millennium long arm quilting machine.  We have a twelve foot table that can accommodate even your King size quilts!!!

Pricing is based on square inches. To determine square inches, multiply your quilt's length x width = square inches. (L x W=sq. in.)

Quilting categories:

Basting - .005 per square inch.  This is great for the hand quilter or domestic machine quilter. We stitch rows about 4" apart both horizontally and vertically with water soluble thread. When the quilt is immersed in water after it is quilted, the basting stitches will dissolve. (Minimum charge $25)

Overall/Edge to Edge Meander - Designs-typical puzzle piece meander, stars, loops, flowers, leaves, etc. This type of quilting is great for a quilt with very busy fabrics, a child's quilt, or a sofa throw.

·         Large meander-approx. size of a grapefruit - $.015/sq. in.

·         Medium-approx. size of a small apple - $.0225/sq. in.

·         Small-approx. size of an apricot - $.03/sq. in.

Pantograph - Prices for pantographs begin at .019 and go up to .03 depending on the density of the design. See below for the panto's currently being offered:

Template - Prices for templates begin at .0275 and go up to .04 depending on design. See below for the templates currently being offered:

Custom - This style of quilting includes separate designs within the quilt - different designs for the blocks, background and border. Includes work such as motifs, concentric circles or squares, feathers, crosshatching around appliqué, fans, clam shells, stars, flowers, etc. A small amount of stitch in the ditch can also be done, upon request.
Prices for custom begin at .03 and up.

Ø      Turning quilt for border work - $10.00 - if necessary

Ø      Minimum charge for all quilting levels (except basting)-$45.00

Ø      Thread Charges: First color is included at no charge. For each additional thread used, there is a $6.00 thread charge. 

Ø      Batting: You may send your own batting or you may purchase batting from Quilt Blocks 101. There are battings that are more preferable than others, due to the speed of long-arm quilting machines, so please check with me before sending your batting.  Don't forget that the batting needs to be straight (no jagged edges) AND it needs to be at least eight (8) inches wider and longer than your top.

Ø      Backing: $3/seam for piecing (Always press your backing seams open when preparing for long-arm quilting)
Fabrics are available for backings.  You may choose among the fabrics available on my website, depending on availability, or allow me to choose for you.

Ø      Binding: Needs to be 20" longer than perimeter of quilt by - 2.5" wide. (+$3.00 Thread Charge)

·         Prepare binding from your fabric yardage (cut [2.5"] strips, sew & press)-.10 per linear inch.

·         Attach to quilt-.10 per linear inch around perimeter of quilt (Front-for hand stitching to back or Back-for machine stitching to front)

·         Decorative machine stitch binding - .15 per linear inch around perimeter of quilt

·         Hand stitched binding (machine stitched to front of quilt and then hand stitched to back of quilt)-.20 per linear inch around perimeter of quilt

Ø      Quilt label-attach to backing prior to quilting-$5.00 (Please have label pressed & turned under a ¼")

Ø      Rush Service-A rush service charge of 25% may be applied at customer's request for faster service during holiday seasons.

Payment of Services

Ø      Deposit/Balance When you send us your quilt, please include a deposit of $50.00 or ½ of the expected quilting cost (whichever is greater).  Balance is due upon completion of quilting and prior to shipping.

Ø      We accept payment of quilting services either by check/money order or credit card (Visa/Mastercard)

Ø      Shipping & Insurance-Actual shipping charges will be applied to balance. Customer's choice on insurance amounts. We use USPS for all our shipping services.
